It is not possible to interview all applicants, however interviews are an essential part of the selection process for a number of subject areas such as Medicine, Social Work and for Nursing/health related schemes.

In other areas short-listed applicants are unlikely to be interviewed though you would be offered the opportunity of visiting the University either before or after an offer is made.

UCAS Extra

If you applied before the deadline but have not secured a suitable place (if you have been rejected by all choices and/or declined any/all offers) from any time between 15th March and 30th June, you will be given another chance through UCAS Extra.
Information on the UCAS Extra scheme will be sent to you by UCAS if you are eligible.

To use Extra you need to have:

  • already made five choices;
  • received decisions from all these choices; and
  • either had no offers or declined all the offers you have received.

If you are eligible for Extra, a button will appear on your Track screen and Course search will tell you which courses have vacancies.

If your first Extra choice does not make you a course offer, you can then apply for another course at either the same university or a different university using the same process.

Please note that if you applied for a high-demand course in your original application and were unsuccessful, you may want to consider related or alternative subjects.  If in doubt, contact us for guidance.

Don't panic! We always hold a small number of places for well qualified applicants on most of our courses during the Clearing period so make a note in your diary to contact us when Clearing starts!
