Welsh Varsity usually takes place around the Easter period with Swansea and Cardiff hosting the event alternatively so keep your diaries clear for the biggest event of the year!

It is the biggest student event in Wales, and is the second largest of the British varsity games, behind Oxford/ Cambridge.

Varsity sees Swansea and Cardiff universities competing in over 30 different sports, from basketball, rowing, golf, hockey and swimming, to fencing, squash, and Ultimate Frisbee.

The event culminates with the showpiece rugby match with typical crowds of 15,000 – 20,000.

The biggest student event in Wales - the Welsh Varsity Challenge - returns to Swansea, who will be defending their shield title, after spending 2017 in Cardiff.

The schedule will be released closer to the date.



Tickets go on sale at Swansea University Students' Union  from early February.
