Swansea University has climbed into the top 15 in the UK for graduate prospects, with nearly 83% of graduates in professional level employment or further study.
The figures are from the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey 2017, published by the Higher Education Statistics Agency. They gather data on where university graduates go once they finish their studies.
The latest figures show that 82.6% of Swansea University graduates are in ‘further study or graduate level employment’ within six months of graduating, up by 2.1% points.
This result places Swansea 15th out of a list of 128 UK universities as featured in the Times and Sunday Times League Table 2017, up from 26th last year.
Swansea University now ranks higher for graduate prospects than many Russell Group institutions, which are often considered to be in the UK’s top tier.

Professor Hilary Lappin-Scott, senior Pro-Vice-Chancellor, said:
“These results have been achieved thanks to the varied and extensive employability support offered to Swansea students; equipping them with the skills, knowledge and opportunities to become global graduates who can stand out from the crowd.
Our Swansea Employability Academy provides students with advice, training, work placements, internships, international opportunities and employability awards to enhance their prospects and prepare them to enter professional careers. We pride ourselves in consistently ranking amongst the UK’s top institutions for graduate prospects sending out the message that Swansea graduates are highly employable.
This latest achievement also confirms Swansea’s position as an aspiring and ambitious University currently riding on a wave of recent successes that have seen our reputation soar. We are comfortably a top-30 research intensive institution, coming 26th in the UK for research quality in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, and we are currently ranked 301-350 in the Times Higher Education World Rankings 2016-17. We have also achieved five stars for quality in the QS Stars University rating system and a Silver Rating in the UK’s Teaching Excellence Framework.
As well as the excellent teaching and learning environment, our location is second to none: in a vibrant city, right next to beaches and beautiful countryside."
