The achievements of more than 3,700 undergraduate and postgraduate students will be celebrated next week Monday July 24 to Saturday 29 July, at Swansea University’s Summer Degree and Award Congregations.
The Summer Congregations, for students who have successfully completed their studies since July 2016, will take place at the magnificent Great Hall at the Swansea University’s Bay Campus.
Students will be joined by their families and friends, University officials, academic staff, representatives of the Students’ Union, civic officers and local dignitaries.
Graduands from the College of Human and Health Sciences, Swansea University Medical School, College of Arts and Humanities, School of Management, College of Engineering, College of Science, College of Law and Criminology and the Swansea Academy of Learning and Teaching and the Department of Adult Continuing Education, will receive their degrees and awards throughout the week. Professor Richard B Davies, Vice-Chancellor of Swansea University, said: “ I look forward next week to celebrating the graduate class of 2017 and congratulating our successful students as they move onto the next stage of their lives.
“Our congregations are the happiest occasions in the academic year, enabling us to celebrate our students’ achievements and also acknowledging the important role their friends and families play in supporting and encouraging them throughout their years of study.
"We are also pleased that Swansea stands out in terms of the success of its graduates in getting graduate level jobs. Our research is world class and this is making waves with employers and encouraging more top employers to recruit Swansea University graduates.
“As well as being true to our Welsh roots we are an international university attracting students and staff from all over the world. We aspire for all our students to be ‘global graduates’ equipped and keen to play their part as citizens of the world.
“I hope this year’s graduates will be able to take a continuing pride in Swansea University, as we continue to build upon the phenomenal success of recent years.”
