Swansea University International Scholarships

Applications for our International Excellence and Merit Scholarships for 2019 entry are not yet open. Please check back in early 2019 or have a look at the other scholarships which are available below.

Each year we have a range of scholarships on offer will result in a discount in tuition fees and cannot be used in lieu of a deposit. If you would like to register your interest in scholarships, please email international@swansea.ac.uk 

 

International Postgraduate Scholarships

The Mak Family Scholarship

One scholarship of £15,000 is available to assist new postgraduate Hong Kong students with their tuition fees, enabling them to study their degree abroad in the UK. This prestigious award has been generously donated to Swansea University by Mr Allan Mak, a Hong Kong-based alumnus of the University. The successful recipient will demonstrate a high standard of academic performance and be willing to act as an International Student Ambassador for the International Development Office and the Development and Engagement Office.

To be eligible, you must be:

1. A permanent resident of Hong Kong
2. Classed as an overseas student for fee purposes
3. Be applying to be a new student to the university as a Postgraduate Taught (Master) student and in receipt of an offer (either conditional or unconditional)

Eira Davies Scholarship

The Eira Francis Davies Scholarship is a full tuition fee scholarship, and will be awarded to female students ordinarily resident in a developing country as listed* who are admitted to pursue a postgraduate course within the College of Human and Health Sciences. 

International Postgraduate Alumni Awards

The scheme is open to all International Swansea Alumni candidates applying for a Taught Master’s or Research degree in any subject area.

The definition of ‘alumni’ is candidates who have successfully completed a ‘full’ degree programme at Swansea University and includes students who have qualified with a Bachelor degree applying for a Taught Master’s programme and Taught Masters’ students applying for MPhil/PhD. 

Chevening Scholarships

Chevening Scholarships are the UK government's global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The scholarships are awarded to outstanding scholars with leadership potential.  

Awards are typically for a one year Master’s degree at universities across the UK.

International and EU Scholarships

Erasmus+ Master Loans

Erasmus+ Master Loans allow students to apply for financial support for their master's studies abroad. Loans are offered by participating banks and student loan agencies on favourable conditions to mobile students, including better than market interest rates and up to two years to allow graduates to get into a job before beginning repayment. Fulbright Commission

The Fulbright Awards Programme is the only organisation that offers scholarships to incoming American students for academic work in any subject, at any accredited UK university.

American Association of University Women

The largest source of funding for graduate women in the US. 

Canadian Centennial Scholarships Fund

The Canadian Centennial Scholarships Fund is open to applications from all Canadian graduate students studying for full-time, multi-year graduate programmes in the UK.

 

Music Scholarships

Music Scholarships at Swansea University

Overview

Our Music Entrance Scholarships are designed to enable talented musicians to continue to develop their skill and musicianship in a supportive environment. These scholarships are open to new undergraduate students studying any subject and are tenable for the duration of the scholar's undergraduate degree.

Two kinds of music scholarships are available:

  • University Instrumental Scholarships
  • Joint Choral Scholarships, held in conjunction with St Mary’s Church

The scholarships have a nominal value of £1000 per year, comprising:

  • Regular individual lessons in the scholar’s instrument or voice
  • A bursary of £300 per year, to support the purchase of sheet music, exam fees, etc
